Christmas in the Plaza de Armas, Trujillo

The next three pictures were taken Christmas 2006 at the downtown plaza. Every year, businesses and educational institutions rent a small section of the plaza to display a Christmas scene. From Dec. 15th through January 5th, the display is ready for the public. I think everyone of the 700,000+ people living here must visit because it is packed with people every night.
In Peru, we are allowed to have public displays of the nativity scene. Jesus arrives in the manger on the 25th.

Last year, we went with some friends to see the plaza. It is common to take pictures of the scenes and also take family pictures there. The wife was not in the picture, though she was also with us.

Even Jon got into the Christmas spirit. The kids also slid down the cement railing.
